Julie Anne Lovegrove, founder of Cradled or Carried, is a mom to three wonderful kids, Zachary (Zach Attack), Zoe (Zozo), and Zadie (Pretty Lady Zadie), and wife of 10 years to awesome husband Phil. She is also a survivor of incurable brain cancer, diagnosed with an Oligodendroglioma Type 3 tumor in July 2013. After a very successful craniotomy and the completion of 1 year of chemotherapy in September 2014, Julie is now under close supervision for any sign of recurrence. A native of New Carlisle, Ohio, Julie studied music and theatre at Capital University Conservatory of Music and the Ohio State University before working in the non-profit sector. She is now a stay-at-home mom, and a proud member of the Vineyard Church of Columbus.
After her initial diagnosis, Julie was surprised by how little guidance toward "support" groups and the cancer community was given at the hospital. When she sought these types of groups on her own, she was met with many discouraging, depressing chat boards, and infrequently attended groups. She decided to start a group to help people LIVE with cancer, rather than letting the "what ifs" destroy the joys of life. She firmly believes that there is a greater purpose to the challenges of cancer. Drawing from a phrase coined by a breast cancer survivor Julie met many years ago, Cradled or Carried was born.
